Although the bikepacking community spans the globe it still remains a tight knit group of people who inspire each other daily. When we run into like-minded people who share our passion for traveling by bike, we tell stories of huge adventures in small sound bites. Each experience is unique and paints a picture of these encounters we have with nature that would never have occurred by any other means than bikepacking.
We have partnered with Apidura to allow riders a space to share their stories with the possibility of being rewarded by doing so. The “Notes from the Backcountry” contest will take place on a quarterly basis. We will take constant submissions and each quarter we will choose the most inspirational piece and publish it on the site. The author of the chosen submission will also be rewarded with a 100 GBP credit toward any purchase on www.apidura.com.
Submission Guidelines + How To Submit:
- 200 – 300 words
- Two high resolution images provided capturing the experience
- Send submission via email to bikepackersmagazine@gmail.com with the subject line of “Notes from the Backcountry” and your full name
- Submissions will be reviewed quarterly and a stand out piece will be rewarded by receiving a 100GBP credit to www.apidura.com and will be published on Bikepackers Magazine. (First award date of June 15)
- Runner-up submissions will be evaluated with the possibility of being published, sans prize.

Each participant represents that the words and images that she/he submits for the Awards are her/his own original works and have not in any way been previously published, produced or assigned to any other person or entity – this may limit our entries, most of these community members have personal blogs where they share their stories. By participating in the Awards, the participant grants to Apidura and Bikepackers Magazine full and exclusive rights to use the submitted works and grants to Apidura and Bikepackers Magazine the right to use and publish such works in any and all media, with appropriate credit to the author. Each participant also releases Apidura and Bikepackers Magazine from any and all liability that may arise from the use and promotion of the submitted works. The participant authorises the reproduction, exhibition, broadcast, electronic storage and/or distribution of the submitted works, without limitation, at the discretion of Apidura and Bikepackers Magazine. The participant specifically waives any right to any compensation from Apidura or Bikepackers Magazine for their submitted works.
The Inspiration Award prize is non-transferable and non-saleable, and only valid for 12 months. It has no cash value and can only be used toward an eligible purchase at www.apidura.com. Apidura and Bikepackers Magazine reserve the right to withdraw, terminate or suspend the Notes from the Backcountry program at any time.
