Haling from the Sonoma County town of Petaluma, California, Lagunitas Brewing produces a glorious fleet of suds to the masses. Lagunitas was established in 1993 – 1994 with a group of individuals who all converged in Petaluma with a desire to better themselves. The group of original brewers came from all over the country. Since then, and more recently, Lagunitas has been known around the nation for their tasty year round and seasonal concoctions. Lagunitas Hop StoopidHop Stoopid is an unlimited release ale which is distributed in either 22 oz bombers or kegs. This year round brew has a traditional floral and fruity taste for a hop forward ale. The pour is smooth, and after settling the ale is very clear. It pours fast with a solid white head that doesn’t linger for long. The first taste reveals a slightly sweet honey flavor, yet the finish seems almost piney. The best of both worlds. After half a glass, the savory flavor of the Hop Stoopid really starts to stick on the pallet. Although this ale is a dry hopped double barrel beer, it is not too bitter. I love a full tasting beer, but often times overly bitter beers can really take away from the vast flavors that become hidden. The fact that this beer is available in almost all areas of the nation, while coming in at 8% ABV, the Lagunitas Hop Stoopid is a great choice for any after ride drink. The most portable version of this beer is a 22 oz glass bomber, which doesn’t prove to be very bikepacker friendly, however, it would be a wonderful taste on the tongue after an extended trip.
