The ultra endurance race scene has grown over the past three years. We have seen increased turnout at well-established races like the Tour Divide and Arizona Trail Races, and have seen popular races such as the Trans Am grow significantly. Most of these events have a unique flavor and twist which make them special in their own right. Tomorrow, the first annual Indian Pacific Wheel Race starts, a race inspired by the overlanders of the 1890’s. The route traverses the southern portion of Australia, starting in the east at Fremantle and ending in Sydney. 70 racers will be participating in the first annual event, and it’s sure to be exciting with plenty of accomplished bikepackers toeing the line.

In this video we asked Jesse Carlsson (race founder), Sarah Hammond, Mike Hall, and Kristof Allegaert a handful of questions about the 5500KM race. Find more info at www.indianpacificwheelrace.com.
