Bikepacking bags are the bread and butter to your bikepacking rig. Sure, a bike is important, but almost any bike will do. The beauty of bikepacking is there is no right or wrong way to do it. There are a few things you need to consider when you purchase your next bikepacking bag or kit.
  • Many bags are indeed custom, so you need to know how to make a frame template. We recommend using a hard piece of cardboard as a hard surface to draw on, and a regular weight large sheet of paper that can easily be folded up and slipped in an envelope to send to the manufacturer.
  • Some bags will not work on certain bikes, specifically saddle bags depending on how much clearance you have between your saddle and rear tire. Work with the manufacturer ahead of time to make sure you will have enough clearance.
  • Lead times may vary for custom or production bags, so it is important to plan ahead.
  • A Beginners Guide to Bikepacking Bags can help you understand what to expect out of each bag.
